Please follow this space for all the breaking news and latest updates from India and around the world.</p> <h3><span style="color: #ba372a;"><strong>Supreme Court To Deliver Verdict On Remission To Convicts In Bilkis Bano Case</strong></span></h3> <p>The Supreme Court is set to announce its verdict on Monday regarding petitions challenging the remission granted to 11 convicts involved in the gangrape of Bilkis Bano and the murder of seven of her family members during the 2002 Gujarat riots, PTI reported. The bench, comprising Justices B V Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan, had reserved its judgement on October 12 last year after an extensive 11-day hearing on the petitions, including the one filed by Bilkis Bano herself.</p> <p>During the hearing in September last year, the apex court had raised a crucial question about whether convicts have a fundamental right to seek remission. The court had directed both the Centre and the Gujarat government to submit the original records related to the remission of sentence by October 16.</p> <h3><span style="color: #ba372a;">PM Modi to speak to Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra Beneficiaries</span></h3> <p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to engage with beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra on Monday through a virtual interaction. Thousands of beneficiaries from across the country will participate in the event, which will also include the presence of Union ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local-level representatives. The interaction is set to take place at 12:30 pm on Monday, with PM Modi addressing the participants.</p> <p>Since the launch of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra on November 15 last year, Prime Minister Modi has consistently interacted with beneficiaries through various means, including four video conferencing sessions on November 30, December 9, December 16, and December 27. Additionally, he personally engaged with the beneficiaries during his visit to Varanasi on December 17 and 18.</p> <h3><span style="color: #ba372a;"><strong>CEC and ECs to Review Lok Sabha Poll Preparations in Andhra Pradesh</strong></span></h3> <p>The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and two Election Commissioners are scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh today to assess the state's preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, expected to be held in April-May. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel, will arrive in Andhra Pradesh in the evening, according to PTI.</p> <p>Initially, the plan was for the poll panel to visit both Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh from January 7 to 10. However, the schedule has been revised, and the review of Tamil Nadu's preparedness for the Lok Sabha polls will take place at a later date.</p>
