<p><strong>Breaking News LIVE: </strong>Please follow this space for all the breaking news and latest updates from India and around the world.</p> <p><strong>PM Modi To Inaugurate National Youth Festival At Nashik Today</strong></p> <p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 27th National Youth Festival here on Friday which will see participation of youths from across the country, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said on Thursday.</p> <p>Thakur said thousands of youths have gathered here to participate in the festival that is organised every year on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.</p> <p>Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other dignitaries will also be present on the occasion where the youth will take a vow to make India a developed nation by 2047.</p> <p>This year, the National Youth Day will be celebrated by all field organisations of the Department of Youth Affairs in districts across the country in collaboration with several government departments.</p> <p>'MY Bharat' volunteers throughout the country, with support from NSS units, NYKS and many educational institutions will coordinate their energies to carry out activities to volunteer for India, an official statement said.</p> <p>Road safety awareness events will be organised at major cities and 750 districts headquarters of the country on Friday.</p> <p>Trained road safety volunteers will be flagged off by central/state ministers, local MPs or MLAs, marking a commitment to building a safer tomorrow through an intensive campaign, the statement said.</p> <p><strong>Attempt To Murder Case: SC To Hear Anticipatory Bail Plea Of Nisith Pramanik</strong></p> <p>The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear on January 12 a plea of union minister of state for home affairs Nisith Pramanik seeking anticipatory bail in an attempt-to-murder case lodged against him in 2018.</p> <p>A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal issued notice to the West Bengal government and asked senior advocate PS Patwalia, appearing for Pramanik, to serve the copy of the petition on the counsel for the state.</p> <p>It listed his plea for hearing on Friday.</p> <p>Pramanik has moved the apex court challenging the January 4 order of the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court by which it had refused to grant him anticipatory bail in the case.</p> <p>During the brief hearing, Patwalia said, "I am a Member of Parliament. The High Court has refused to grant me protection from arrest. I was earlier with the Trinamool Congress and now I am with BJP. Situation in West Bengal is very volatile, I may be arrested in this case, kindly grant me protection." The bench said his plea is still pending before the high court and why can't he move there.</p>
