The Karnataka government will on Wednesday launch 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme, offering monthly aid of Rs 2,000 each to about 1.1 crore women heads of family at a public function in Mysuru. The event will be attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi.</p> <p>"As many as 1.1 crore women heads of households will be given Rs 2,000 every month," Karnataka Chief Minister Siddararamaiah told reporters in Mysuru, his home district. The government has earmarked Rs 17,500 crore for 'Gruha Lakshmi' programme in the current financial year. </p> <p>'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme is one of the five pre-poll 'guarantees' of the Congress, which ousted the BJP from power in the Assembly elections held in May.</p> <h3><strong>India Allows Export Of Non-Basmati Rice To Singapore </strong></h3> <p>On Tuesday, India allowed the export of non-Basmati rice to Singapore to meet the food requirements. "India and Singapore enjoy a very close strategic partnership, characterized by shared interests, close economic ties and strong people to people connect, said the MEA in a statement. The Singaporean authorities had been in close contact with Indian authorities to seek exemption from the country's ban on export of non-basmati rice, Singapore Food Agency said on Friday.</p> <p>"Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is working closely with importers to increase the import of different varieties of rice from various sources. Singapore is also in close contact with the Indian authorities to seek exemption from the ban," it said in a statement. </p> <h3><strong>India Registers Strong Protest Over China Map</strong></h3> <p>India registered a strong protest through diplomatic channels with Beijing on Tuesday over China's "standard map” of 2023 which lays claim on Indian terrirories of Arunachal Pradesh, Aksai Chin region, apart from Taiwan and the disputed South China Sea.</p> <p>In response to media queries on the matter, External Affairs Ministry's Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi Monday said, "We have today lodged a strong protest through diplomatic channels with the Chinese side on the so-called 2023 "standard map” of China that lays claim to India’s territory."</p> <p>"We reject these claims as they have no basis. Such steps by the Chinese side only complicate the resolution of the boundary question,” he added.</p> <p> </p>
